Veteran filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao has passed away this evening while undergoing hemodialysis at Hyderabad's KIMS.

Born on May 4, 1942, Rao was a multi-faceted personality who directed about 151 movies, had a successful and long stint in politics, was a journalist-editor at one point in time, and a writer of socially-conscientious literature.

A revered Telugu film industry veteran, he was always at the forefront of promoting the cause of 'chinna cinema' and did everything he could to resuscitate the glory of low-budgeted movies. An fearless critic of vested interests in the industry, Dasari has left a strong legacy which is will last forever.

IndiaGlitz condoles the death of the iconic filmmaker and politician. May his soul Rest In Peace.
