Veteran Malayalam actor passes away

Veteran Malayalam actor KTS Padannayil, known for his comedy roles, passed away due to age-related ailments. The 88-year-old who had been undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Cooperative hospital in Kochi since July 19, passed away on Thursday morning. 

Padannayil began his acting career as a theatre artist. She made his movie debut with Aniyan Bava Chettan Bava directed by Rajasenan. Later, he played supporting roles in several superhits such as  Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshatrathilakkam, Vaamanapuram Bus Route, Adyathe Kanmani, Kunjiramayanam, Rakshadhirakari Baiju and Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka. Having acted in over 60 films, Padannayil was popular for comedy roles. He has also starred in more than 100 television serials.

He is survived by wife Ramani and three sons, Syam, Sannan, Saljan and a daughter, Swapna.
