Durga Nageshwara Rao (85), the yesteryear director who made such acclaimed films as 'Kaatuka', 'Sujatha', 'Swargam' and 'Pasupu-Paaraani', today died at his Ramanthapur residence in Hyderabad.

Known for well-meaning cinema, Rao debuted with the film 'Vijaya', which was produced by Vijaya Bapineedu. Earlier, he had had a stint with Dasari Narayana Rao as an Executive Director. He was the nephew of C Seeta Rama Anjaneyulu, a popular actor.

Following his death, Tollywood's director's council paid a rich homage to Rao, Eeranki Sharma and Rama Soori (the latter two directors passed away recently).
