Veteran actress Thodupuzha Vasanthi is no more

Veteran Malayalam actress Thodupuzha Vasanthi, who had been battling cancer for some time, passed away at a private hospital at Vazhakulam, Kerala today, following multiple organ failure. The 65 years old actress, known for character roles, made her acting debut with the 1975 movie Ente Neelakasham. Vasanthi who is also a theatre artist rose to limelight for her roles in God Father, Alolam and Karyam Nissaram. In her four-decade-old acting career, Vasanthi has acted in over 400 popular Malayalam movies. 

The actress was diagnosed with cancer and kidney failure few years back. Followed by which, Vasanthi stayed away from movies. The actress who lost her father and husband due to cancer, had been waging a tough and lonely battle over the last few years. Vasanthi breathed her last today morning at a private hospital. Her funeral took place at Thodupuzha near Idukki, her home town, on the evening of 28 November.
