Veteran actress Surekha Sikri passes away

Three-time National award-winning veteran actress Surekha Sikri breathed her last on Friday morning. She was 75 years old. In a statement released by her agent, the actress passed away following a cardiac arrest.
"Three-time national award-winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke," the actor's agent Vivek Sidhwani said. Last year in September Sikri had suffered a brain stroke and was discharged after a few days.
Surekha Sikri is best known for her performances in movies such as "Tamas", "Mammo", "Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro", "Zubeidaa", "Badhaai Ho", etc. She became a household name with her performance in the popular TV soap Balika Vadhu, in which she played the cunning grandmother for eight years. Sikri was last seen in an anthology last year directed by Zoya Akhtar. Surekha is survived by her son Rahul.
