Veteran movie actor and drama artiste D Philip passed away on Sunday. He was 79. The actor had been getting treated for age related ailments fro the past few days. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
Philip was a theatre actor during the initial phase of his career was a popular presence in Kalidasa Kalakendra and Kerala People's Arts Club (KPAC). Later, he made his debut in movies. Having acted in over 50 movies, the actor's popular works include Kottayam Kunjachan, Vettam, Onnaman, Artham, Pazhassi Raja, Ezhupunnatharakan, Time, etc. He also acted in several classic TV serials, including Sthree, Swamy Ayyappan, Kadammattath Kaththannar and many others. He also co-produced the classic movie ‘Kolangal’ directed by K G George. In 1986, Philp won the State Award for his performance in the Kalidasa Kalakendra play 'Rainbow'.
