Veteran actor and screen writer dies of COVID-19 complications

Veteran author, actor, and screenplay writer Madampu Kunjuttan passed away on Tuesday due to COVID-19 complications. The 80-year-old actor was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thrissur after being diagnosed with Covid-19. He got admitted to the hospital after developing fever and other age-related ailments. On Tuesday, his condition worsened, and succumbed to the deadly virus.

Madampu Kunjuttan had played notable roles in several movies and is a familiar face among the Kerala audience. Apart from being an actor, Madampu Kunjukuttan was also a Sanskrit teacher. He had also served as a priest in temples too. He had penned several books and also wrote screenplays for the movies 'Makalkku', 'Gourisankaram', 'Saphalam', 'Karunam' and 'Deshadanam'. He was the recipient of several honors including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, Sanjayan Award, and National Film Awards for Best Screenplay for the Jayaraj directorial 'Karunam'.
