The Madras High Court has stayed the elections to be held on July 15.
Its a victory for Vishal and team who filed a case pleading to stop the elections to be held for administrative posts of Nadigar Sangam that has about 3,500 cinema and drama artists as its members.
Actors Vishal, Nasser,Karthi Ponvannan and Karunas have announced there decision to contest in the elections against the current office bearers headed by President R.Sarathukumar and General Secretary Radharavi. The group of rebel actors have been opposed to the idea of conducting the election on a weekday (July 15 falls on Wednesday) instead of second Sunday which is a holiday for film industry people. They are also opposed to the place of election as they feel the place is not suitable for many actors to come and cast their vote as the place does not have space to park vehicles.Hence they had pleased to Madras High Court to grant a stay on election and to conduct the election under the supervision of a retired HC Judge.
Radharavi in his reply to the HC bench hearing the case had mentioned that the date and place election need not be changed as just three actors are opposing it. He also ruled out the need of supervision of a retired judge.
However the Court seems to have ruled in favour of Vishal & co. More details of the judgement are awaited. Keep tabbing this space for more details. ,
