Vennela

Vennela, as a name, sounds more rural. But the film in question is more urban than most offerings from Tollywood.

Vennela is hoping to be in Telugu what Dil Chahta Hai was in Hindi.

The Farhan Akhtar directed film brought a new youthful idiom in filmmaking and also understood the nuances of making a movie that will appeal to both Indians and NRIs.

That is why director Deva Katta has chosen both the backdrops for the film.

Produced by the banner Fourth Dimensions Films floated by a group of NRIs, Vennela has Raja and Parvati Melton in the lead.

The USA part of the film, a romance in the backdrop of a university, is complete.

The director says that the film is about the Indian students studying abroad. A rites of passage kind of story like Inscrutable Americans. The film will have lot of freshness and the accent will be on high sensibility.

Raja, who is the most urban face of Tollywood, is happy doing a fresh film. 'The script was bound and given to me much before the start of the shoot. The director knows what he is doing,' he says.

The heroine Parvati has been a dancer and also a model. So her expressions should be natural.

The technical aspects are also expected to be top class as many professionals have been roped in.

Cinematographer Raja Ratnam had worked with the acclaimed Ravi K Chandran for films like Dil Chahta Hain, Koi Mil Gaya, Boys, Yuva.

Actor Ravi Varma is a professional from New York Film Institute.

All in all, Vennela hopes to bring in a special flavor.
