Victory Venkatesh's 'Guru', directed by the National Award winning Sudha Kongara, has finally got a release date. The sports drama, targeting the Summer market, will hit the screens on April 7.

Touted to be a gritty and realistic sports drama with strong emotions, 'Guru' has Ritika Singh as the female lead. She is Venky's discipline in the movie, while in real life, she is a mixed martial arts expert who represented India at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games. Only recently, she won a National Award as well as a Filmfare Award for Best Debut for the movie 'Irudhu Suttru', of which 'Guru' is a remake.

Mumtaz Sorcar, who is playing another key role, is the daughter of the legendary magician PC Sorkar.

Sashikant of Y Not Studios is the producer, while Santosh Narayanan of the recent 'Kabali' fame is the music director. The cinematography is from KA Shaktivel. Harshavardhan has penned the dialogues.
