Released last Friday, 'Venkatapuram' is going strong at Box Office. Critical acclaim aside, the crime-thriller has thrived because of the spontaneous word of mouth publicity it has got. The makers too have been systematically promoting the movie well. As a result, it has come to occupy the audience's mind space to a good extent.

And the talk of the tinsel town is Venu Madikanti, the debutante director. He has come to be seen as yet another new-age entrant in Tollywood.

A Hyderabadi, he has been quoted saying by a daily that his stint at an old city college was life-changing for him. Proving his parents' skepticism wrong, the director went on to make a well-planned thriller with Rahul of 'Happy Days' fame.
