Venkat Prabhu kickstarted his success journey with his debut directorial 'Chennai 600028', which set a new trend for comedy films in Kollywood and attained a cult status. He moved to the top league when he directed Thala Ajith's 50th film 'Mankatha' which went on to become a blockbuster. Although it has been a decade since the release of the action-crime film, the star's fans are still anticipating its sequel.

Earlier in an event, Venkat Prabhu had announced that he will be doing another film with Thala Ajith and that he was nervous about making 'Mankatha 2' as the expectations for the film would be sky-high. However, there was no clear answer to the speculations on the blockbuster's sequel.

The latest update is that the director Venkat Prabhu has revealed in a recent social media post that 'Mankatha' is the movie that deserves an immediate sequel. Venkat Prabhu had earlier said that he has ideas of doing 'Mankatha 2' with Thala Ajith and Thalapathy Vijay in the lead roles, and he has been waiting for the approval of both the stars to start working on the script works.

We have to wait to see whether the two superstars Ajith and Vijay opt to share screen space in this iconic sequel after the 1995 film 'Rajavin Paarvayile'. Venkat Prabhu had also recalled his meeting with Thalapathy Vijay during the shooting of 'Mankatha', where Vijay was shooting for his film 'Velayudham'. Venkat Prabhu had told Ajith and Vijay about both working together for a film, and they had also shown interest in his idea.
