Venkat Prabhu is a trendsetting director born to the legendary Gangai Amaran. After being an actor and playback singer, he debuted as a filmmaker with the offbeat sports comedy film, 'Chennai 600028', about street cricket with new faces and ignited a new wave in Tamil cinema.
Venkat went on to make many path-breaking films such as 'Saroja', 'Goa', 'Mankatha', 'Chennai 600028 II' and most recently 'Maanadu'. Now, he is working on his next bilingual film 'Custody' starring Naga Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty. The hot news is that Venkat Prabhu completes 16 years as a filmmaker on April 27 as 'Chennai 600028' turns 16 years old.
VP took to his Twitter page to write a note about his journey as a director and revealed that he is celebrating the occasion by working in Dubai on the background score of Custody with Yuvan Shankar Raja, who scored music for his directorial debut 'Chennai 600028' as well. He apologised to his brother Premgi Amaren in his post as they celebrated without him.
Premgi Amaren in comments wrote, "Do not party in Dubai without me" (sic). Venkat Prabhu shared a photo with Yuvan from the Custody post-production work in Dubai. The picture is now doing rounds on the internet. Produced by Srinivasaa Silver Screens, Custody is all set to hit the screens on May 12 with music jointly scored by Yuvan and Ilaiyaraaja.
