Thalapathy VIjay's grand Diwali release 'Mersal' has already shattered all the box office opening records. With phenomenal reviews and positive word of mouth from audience. the film directedby Atlee is all set to become the biggest blockbuster of the year.
Already many Kollywood celebrities have poured praises on the film. Now director Venkat Prabhu who supported the film's release against all odds has now tweeted praising the film. He has said the film is carried by Thalapathy and also said the film has been "awesomely adapted and presented by Atlee" as a festival entertainer and called it a "Festival treat".
However the director known for his funny jibes has asked "where is the credit for Panju sir?". It is to be noted that many feel that the story of 'Mersal' has strong connection with 1989 Kamal Haasan blockbuster 'Apoorva Sagodharargal'. IndiaGlitz review had also mentioned the hard to miss similarity between the two films in terms of story-line. Veteran screenwriter Panju Arunachalam penned the story for 'Apoorva Sagodharargal' directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. So VP has playfully asked the story credit for the legendary Panju Arunachalam.
It must be noted that even a few Venkat Prabhu films have been trolled for having heavy connection with Hollywood films in terms of story. Venkat Prabhu has never taken such comparison's seriously. He has always reacted with funny replies and has also self trolled himself at times for this reason.
It will be interesting to see how Atlee is going to react to this friendly troll of Venkat Prabhu. It is heartening to see filmmakers of younger generation being so candid and friendly with each other.
