Actor Vemal, who was last seen on screen in the adult comedy entertainer Evanuku Engayo Machcham Iruku, was supposed to have a release this month with Kalavani 2, the sequel to his 2010 comedy entertainer Kalavani which is directed by Sarkunam.

While the makers had planned to release the movie on May 10 initially, a stay on the release was obtained by Singaravelan of Dhanalakshmi films, and later the stay was removed by court as the issue was between Vemal and Singaravelan for a commitment and financial dealing, where Vemal had promised to give Kalavani theatrical rights.

However there were still issues persisting and Sarkunam was receiving death threats and was told not to release the movie. In such a situation, Vemal had met Singaravelan yesterday and signed an agreement that he will work in two movies produced by Singaravelan within 2019, in return for the money he had received from the producer. Now Kalavani 2's issues have been resolved and the movie's release date will be announced soon.
