In a gut wrenching incident a mother joined hands with her mother and lover and murdered her newborn baby by drowning it in a bucket full of water. Vasanthi (22) a resident of Velacherry was reportedly in love with Jayaraj (23) for three years and became pregnant as a result of it.

Vasanthi's mother Vijaya took her to a hospital for abortion but the doctors refused as it was an advanced stage. The mother and daughter kept the pregnancy under wraps from neighbours and relatives and the baby was delivered at the government hospital on October 16th. They then called Jayaraj home and after deep discusstion the trio decided to murder the baby and drowned it in a bucket of water and then disposed the body into a public dustbin.

The body was discovered by passersby and police started an investigation and CCTV footage in the area clearly showed Jayaraj, Vasanthi and Vijaya's involvement and all three have been arrested.
