Veerasaami
Vijaya T Rajendhar, who is known to crank the camera, pen the lyrics and compose the music for his films besides directing, is all geared up with Veerasaami for this Pongal. Featuring himself in the lead role, the movie brings together Mumtaz and Meghna Naidu.
TR has donned the role of Veerasaami, a criminal lawyer, who wins cases with his brain and brawn. Paired with him is Mumtaz, who plays 'Salt Kotta Sarasu', a role different from the ones she's handled so far. Incidentally, Mumtaz is a Rajendhar-discovery.
The actor, who completed his silver jubilee year in Tamil filmdom in 2006, says, "At a time when my son Silambarasan is playing the hero, I am still around giving all the young heroes a run for their money playing the hero."
Mumtaz, introduced by him in Monisha En Monalisa, acts opposite Rajendhar in the movie.
Talking about the flick, Mumtaz says, "I was asked to reduce my weight by my guru (Rajendhar) for this role. For this purpose, I went on a special diet for the past one and half months to reduce 20 kgs."
Vijaya T Rajendhar has sung a couple of songs in the movie. He says, "Having been in the industry for over two decades, I know what the audience expects from me. My Veerasaami would be a perfect entertainer with romance, action and sentiments."
Known for his self-confidence, the actor-director expressed hope that Veerasaami would run successfully and go on to complete a silver-jubilee run.
