Actor Varun Dhawan is gearing up to work on the first war movie of his career. He's going to play the lead in Sriram Raghvan's 'Ekkis' which is set against the backdrop of 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Varun would be essaying the role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal who made the ultimate sacrifice and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra at the age of 21.
Varun wrapped up his horror comedy flick 'Bhediya' a while ago and he'll soon be done with another project titled 'Jug Jug Jeeyo' as well. Soon after this, he'll start working on 'Ekkis' with Sriram Raghvan. A source close to the development shared, "This is among the most ambitious projects of Varun’s career and the actor has been in prep more all through the last two years, learning more and more about the traits of an army officer. As Jug Jug Jeeyo nears completion, Varun is excited to slip into the first biopic of his career."
To prepare for the part, Varun will have to undergo body language training and he'll also have to study basic war formations and stuff. The film was set to go on floors in 2020 but the pandemic ruined the plans. And since makers didn't want to work on a tight schedule which could've compromised the quality of film, the project ultimately got delayed.
