Varun Dhawan bags 'Shuddhi', Salman Khan happy

After much speculations and casting delays, filmmaker Karan Johar has finalised his lead cast for his most talked project 'Shuddhi'. Of late the producer-director shared via Twitter that he has confirmed Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt for the film, to be directed by Karan Malhotra (of 'Agneepath' fame).

"And finally..SHUDDHI starring VARUN DHAWAN and ALIA BHATT...directed by KARAN MALHOTRA..@Varun_dvn @aliaa08 @karanmalhotra21 @DharmaMovies," tweeted KJo.

Following this, Salman Khan, who was earlier supposed to play the lead, shared his happiness on Varun bagging the film. Sharing a childhood pic of Varun, Salman posted, thus, "Kamaal karte ho Varun Dhawan...made ur dad n me so proud of u... happy Shhuddhi".

'Shuddhi' had been in gossip circles for a long time, over its casting. Initially, it was supposed to have Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in lead. Salman Khan was alleged to have roped in. And now finally the baton has been passed to the much younger actors Varun and Alia, who will be sharing screen together for third time, post their debut movie 'Student of the Year' and 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'.
