The coronavirus lockdown has totally disrupted the livelihood of migrant laborers across Indian and several have died trying to reach home on foot along with families traveling hundreds of kilometers. A little late in the day the railways have started transporting them to their home states and today too many have left to North India.
Varalakshmi Sarathkumar who is strong in social activism running the Save Shakti organization has shared a video in which her mother Chaya is seen along with two others distributing food to those travelling at the Chennai Central Railway Station.
Varu has captioned the video "30 minutes,20 coaches 80 in a coach, literally 15 seconds to serve 8 loaves of bread per compartment to 1600 passngrs travelling through chennai with 3 Save Shakti volunteers n my mom thank you". Netizens are lauding Chaya's effort considering her age and also Varu for the continued social work.
