Sudden change in 'Varisu' and 'Thunivu' release plans?

The battle for supremacy has already begun as far as Ajith and Vijay fans are concerned. The fan wars are happening big time on social media as expected even though there is a full month to go for the release of Vijay's 'Varisu' and Ajith's 'Thunivu' for Pongal 2023. Till now the exact release date is yet to be announced by either side. Those in the know opine that the announcement will come only after both parties get the censor certificate.
Now there are reports emerging that 'Varisu' is likely to release on January 12th and 'Thunivu' the following day on January 13th. It is well known that Ajith has a strong Thursday sentiment and other sources swear that he will stick to the January 12th as planned before.
As far as the overseas distributors are concerned, they have been maintaining that both 'Varisu' and 'Thunivu' will release on January 12. Anyways we have to wait for the official confirmation which is expected in the last week of December.
'Varisu' directed by Vamshi Paidipally is produced by Dil Raju with Thaman scoring the music. The film has Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna as the lead pair supported by an ensemble cast that includes Prabhu, Jayasudha, Sarathkumar, Khushbu, Meena, Srikanth, Shaam, Prakash Raj and Yogi Babu among others.
'Thunivu' is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor with Ghibran scoring the music. Ajith and Manju Warrier play the lead roles supported by Samuthirakani, Pavni, Amir, Cibi Bhuvana Chandran, Mahanadhi Shankar, G.M. Sundar and John Kokken.
