The biggest box office clash in Kollywood in recent times is happening on January 11th as Ajith's 'Thunivu' and Vijay's 'Varisu' are set to release worldwide. While the former directed by H. Vinoth is an out and out action film with Ajith in a mass avatar playing a negative shaded role, the latter is a wholesome family entertainer with Vijay balancing mass and class.
Both the superstars have reportedly ensured a table profit for their respective producers even before the release. Details are given below.
'Varisu' has a budget of Rs 225 crores
Vijay Salary: 125 Crores
Salaries of of other stars plus production cost is Rs.100 crores
Pre-Release Revenue:
Tamil Nadu theatrical rights: Rs 70 crore
Kerala rights: Rs 6.5 crores
Karnataka rights : Rs 8 crores
Overseas rights : Rs 35 crores
Hindi rights: Rs 34 crores
Audio rights : Rs. 10 crores
Digital rights: Rs, 75 crores
Sun TV Satellite Rights: Rs 57 Crores
The total pre-release collection of 'Varisu' is Rs 295 Crores which means that producer Dil Raju already has pocketed a profit of Rs. 70 Crores. Since he is releasing the Telugu version 'Vaarasudu' in maximum number of screens even suprassing Chiranjeevi' 'Waltair Veerayya' his profits could be over Rs. 75 Crores there.

Ajith Salary: Rs.70 Crores

Thunivu's total pre-release busiess is around Rs 193 crores which means that producer Boney Kapoor has already pocketed a profit of Rs. 33 Crores. It should also be noted that the above information on both the fims is not official but forecast by trade analysts.
