Varalakshmi Sarathkumar who has made a name for herself as an actress of substance is known for her philanthropic activities as well as lending her voice for social causes especially pertaining to women.  Recently she has brought a rare and laughter on the lips of school children who have to get to school on foot walking several kilometers.
