Varadappa Awards Presented

Annual awards in the name of younger brother of Dr Rajakumar – Varadaraju was presented at Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Saturday evening in a crowded gathering. Actress B Jaya from cinema and Jayakumar (who is also known for Junior Rajakumar roles) from theatre received the honors of Rs.10000, memento, garland, shawl and fruit basket. V Ravichandran, dream merchant of Kannada cinema and Pranayaraja Srinath were present to do the honors.

Addressing the gathering after receiving honors theater personality Jayakumar said Dr Rajakumar was his key inspiration in profession. B Jaya veteran actress recalled the support she got from Dr Rajakumar when the film industry was in Madras.

For good habits among the children of my father, the role of Varadappa is admirable stated Raghavendra Rajakumar, the discipline is all of us the family came from guidelines of my paternal uncle Varadappa opined Shivarajakumar, Puneeth Rajakumar recalled how he was offered his pet food chicken in one of the sacred moments.

'Balaga' of SP Varadaraju awards headed by Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa and likeminded personalities giving awards annually. Prof Baraguru felt that Varadappa was like Aathma' of Dr Rajakumar.

SP Varadaraju award for last year 2014 was presented to Fakirappa Varavu of stage and Shanthamma of cinema field.
