Vanitha Vijayakumar has been embroiled in one controversy after another after she recently married Peter Paul who has not legally divorced his first wife. Surya Devi one of Vanitha's harshest critics has been arrested last night on Vanitha's complaint and it is said that action may also been taken on Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, Kasthuri, Ravindar and Nanjil Vijayan for questioning her marriage.

Meanwhile Vanitha in a previous video had stated that a man having multiple wives is not unusual pointing out that her own dad Vijayakumar had two wives. She also added that in her hometown Thanjavur bigamy is so common that almost every man has two wives.

The Congress Party leaders in Thanjavur were irked by this generalization and have lodged a police complaint at the Pattukottai police station seeking immediate action on the actress.

Similarly, the BJP has given petitions to the Thanjavur District Collector and Police Commissioner that Vanitha should be made to apologize to the people of Thanjavur failing which protests will be made in the city and in Chennai also. For probably the first time thanks to Vanitha the fierce political rivals BJP and Congress are seeing eye to eye on an issue.
