Vanitha Vijayakumar was embroiled in controversies when she married Peter Paul an alleged filmmaker on June 27th in a star hotel. The marriage was conducted according to the Christian rituals and Peter Paul kissed the bride while shutterbugs had a field day.

The very next day Peter Paul's first wife Elisabeth Helen lodged a police complaint that they are not divorced and hence the wedding with the actress is illegal. The issue saw several twists and turns and Vanitha even had to appear and explain her status to the police in person.

In mid-October Vanitha announced that she has broken up with Peter Paul for his alleged alcoholism and self-harm. She stated in a video that she spent many lakhs of rupees in hospital bills and said that his wife could have him back.

The issue has now landed become legal as the Saidapet court has taken up the case filed by Elisabeth Helen for hearing and has ordered both Vanitha Vijayakumar and Peter Paul to appear in person on December 23rd.
