India's fastest train Vande Bharat express was flagged off by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, and within less than a day, the train number 18 broke down today morning, 200 kilometers outside Delhi. With its first commercial run scheduled on Sunday, the Vande Bharat express was brought back from Varanasi to Delhi.
It was during this run that the brake jammed in one of the coaches, and after fixing the brakes, the train set out again towards Delhi. It has been said that the train is on course for its commercial run tomorrow. Before the train halted, there were sounds from the last coaches, following which the loco pilots reduced the speed.
After there was smoke and power failure in all coaches, the speed of the train was reduced to 10 km/hr, and the issue was described as jamming of brakes and a failure to charge. After engineers arrived and released the jamming, after initial sounds, the loco pilots increased the speed to 40 km/hr. Despite this halt in the very first journey, the commercial run is expected to happen as scheduled.
