Thalapathy Vijay's 'Varisu' a bilingual Tamil and Telugu film directed by Vamhsi Paidipally released worldwide on January 11th. Though the much hyped film received mixed reviews from critics it has satisfied both Vijay fans and the family audiences it was targetted at. and starring Vijay.

'Varasudu' the Telugu version of 'Varisu' released on Janury 14th in AP and Telangana and has reportedly received the same response from the Telugu audiences as well. Meanwhile a video of director Vamshi Paidipally's father shedding happy tears after watching the film and hugging his son has gone viral on the internet.

'Varisu/Varasudu' is about family bonding and Vijay plays the youngest son of a businessman who does not see eye to eye with his obsessively businessminded father played by Sarathkumar. The screenplay shows how the ignored son comes to the aide of his father at the most crucial time and not only saves his business but also reunites the dysfunctional family.

'Varisu/Varasudu' is produced by Dil Raju with music by Thaman and stars Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna as the lead pair supported by Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, Prabhu, Srikanth, Shaam, Prakash Raj and Yogi Babu among others.
