The District Collector of Anantapur has taken a decision to ban the screening of the film 'Valmiki'. As such, the Varun Tej starter won't hit the screens in the district tomorrow.
The decision has been taken in view of the objections raised by some Boya community associations and groups against the film's title. The administration is of the view that the community members might resort to violence in disrupting the movie by pelting stones, etc.
"The district has a large chunk of the Boya community. Law and order issues might arise, especially given that the film's shoot was disrupted a few months ago in the district. The hero's character and the title are believed to have no relation," a statement from the district administration says.
All theatres in the district have been instructed not to screen the film. Violators will be penalized.
