High Court notice to 'Valimai' team following plagiarism case filed by Tamil director

Ajith Kumar's 'Valimai' released on February 24th amidst high expectations and though the critics panned it the film is said to have grossed in excess of rupees two hundred crores worldwide. The action thriller was directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and costarring Huma Qureshi, Sumithra and Karthikeya.
The Madras High Court has sent notices to director H. Vinoth and Boney Kapoor following a case filed by Tamil director Anandkrishnan. The filmmaker has claimed that the team has used characters and story created by him without his permission.
Anandkrishnan directed the 2016 film 'Metro' starring Shirish, Bobby Simha, Sathya, Sai Priyanka Ruth and Maya. The subject dealt with a chain snatching gang that used motor cycles and the younger brother of the hero involved in the crimes. Anandkrishnan recently directed Vijay Antony's 'Kodiyil Oruvan' which became a hit at the box office making profits in spite of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions.
