Boney Kapoor, the Bollywood producer who is currently presenting Pawan Kalyan's 'Vakeel Saab', is unhappy with SS Rajamouli's decision to release 'RRR' on October 13. The reason is that the Hindi-language film 'Maidaan', starring Ajay Devgn in the lead, is set to hit the screens on October 15.
Speaking to a portal, the husband of late Sridevi suggested that the clash could have been averted. The release date of 'Maidaan' was announced six months ago in keeping with the tradition in Bollywood to lock the release date early on. Saying that he is upset with Rajamouli, Boney added that his decision is most unethical. He feels that there should be co-operation between producers and filmmakers when the film industry needs to save itself from the crisis it is in.
Rajamouli hasn't had a good time with the Kapoors. There were reports that Sivagami in 'Baahubali' was first offered to Sridevi, who Rajamouli suggested didn't do because she wanted a hefty remuneration and made other expensive demands. Reacting to Rajamouli's statement, the late actress said in 2017: "I was shocked when I heard them say that I made such demands. No, I never did that. I wish Rajamouli all the best. May he continue to do great films like Baahubali."
