Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu is in a soup after making a passing reference, that Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' is a flop, in his speech at a friend's book release function held on Sunday.

While the film has been performing extraordinarily well at the box office, Vairamuthu making a contradictory comment, has made Rajini fans, film buffs and also those associated with the film up in arms against him.

A section of people is severely criticizing Vairamuthu for his negative comment about the film with a perception that he badmouthed about the film only because he did not write lyrics for any of the songs in the film.

But now Vairamtuhu has come out with a clarification stating that his words have been misunderstood due to a slip of the tongue and has requested everyone to not create any controversy out of that. .,

"I was telling that we should try to understand even the things we don't accept. I meant to say that though we could not accept, we should understand that there is an argument whether 'Kabali' is a success or a failure. While telling this I missed the word success and I sensed this only after completing the speech. I gave my explanation about this to my good friend Rajinikanth even before it started spreading as news. 'I never intended to talk low of Rajinikanth or the film industry to which I belong. I request people to not to create a controversy out of this."

Hope this explanation puts an end to the controversy surrounding the Kaviperarasu.
