To commemorate the Birth anniversary of Iyakkunar Sigaram K Balachander, Vairamuthu will unveil a bronze bust statue of the legend at his birthplace in Thiruvaroor on the 9th of July. He has procured the permission of the late director par excellence's family members.

K. Balachander finds, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Vivekh and Nasser amongst many other celebrities are expected to grace the event. When the Ilayaraja- Vairamuthu combo split in the late eighties naysayers predicted the end of the road for the lyricist but it was KB who gave him all songs in his 'Vaaname Ellai' and his production venture 'Roja' directed by Mani Ratnam which started the Rahman- Vairamuthu era. A fitting tribute indeed by Vairamuthu for one of the Godfather's of modern Indian cinema.
