Actor of Rakshasi, distributor and now director cum hero from ‘Vaira’ Navarasan hit back strongly at the attitude of the Regional censor officer and actress of his film Priyanka Malnad.

Are we supposed to do films for Regional Censor office or for audience? At the KFCC when censor board Srinivasappa was invited for discussion after 18 producers complained, he could not answer any question raised by producers. It is high time producers should join together is advising the regional censor officer. We have seen backless Tamanna in ‘Bahubali’ but it gets U/A certificate. For a few seconds of such a scene in ‘Vaira’ it is given A certificate. This is utter nonsense he says.  Regional Censor board is like servants of Kannada cinema industry.

One of the censor board members was irritated when ‘A’ certificate was announced out of five members who saw ‘Vaira’ – the 3 seconds scene of heroine Priyanka Malnad showing back has good justification. There are films of other languages that are ten times more in revealing costumes. Such films get U/A certificate.

As a director I obeyed my producer Dharmasri Manjunath. The lip lock scene shot for the film was cut off before going to censor. At the time of discussion of the subject producer Manjunath gave me some advice which I incorporated.

Today I am addressing the problems of all producers. We should all get together in fight against censor board. Censor asked me to cut off ‘Modi’ word but in ‘Jai Lavakusha’ Telugu film there is so much with that name. Uniform censor policy is what we expect says Navarasan.
