Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu is this generations most iconic comedy actor in Tamil cinema enjoying unpredented popularity from young kids to senior citizens. In recent times he has been adamant about acting only as a leading man and went into a self imposed exile for a few years.
It took Nadigar Sangam President Vishal to convince him to make a comeback as a comedian in 'Kaththi Sandai' after which he had well received roles in 'Shivalinga' and 'Mersal'. Director Shankar signed Vadivelu paying him a huge remuneration to reprise his dual roles in 'Imsai Arasan 24 aam Pulikesi' the sequel to the blockbuster 'Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi' directed by Chimbu Devan.
'Imsai Arasan 24aam Pulikesi' began with much fanfare a couple of months back erecting huge sets costing crores of rupees. After just a few days the shooting was stopped with reports saying that creative differences arose between the hero and director. After many rounds of talks the shoot resumed and now it is said that it is again stopped due to Vadivelu being unhappy with the costumes for the films. Industry insiders are of the opinion that Shankar is contemplating shelving the project itself. The Producer Council Honorary Secretary K.E. Gnanavelraja too has hinted today about the losses incurred due to the behaviour of Vadivelu and people in the know suggest that action could be taken against him soon.
