Aishwarya Dhanush's second movie and her first association with Yuvan Shankar Raja raised the expectation among the music buffs, since her first movie '3' carried terrific songs. Yuvan is going through a rough patch and he is yet to deliver a knockout punch, post ‘Biriyani’ which was his 100th film. Let’s see, how he fared in ‘Vai Raja Vai’.
Move Your Body – Ilayaraja
Yuvan's experiment with Dubstep continues and the traces of, Unakkagave from 'Moondru Per Monndru Kaadhal' is quite evident as this song progress. Apart from the minute traces, this one is a fantastic dance number, and Ilayaraja has nailed the song with his spirited vocals. He sounds less than half of his age and upped the tempo of the song beautifully. 'Poetu' Dhanush makes his presence felt with funny one liners throughout the song, ex - Ishtathukku vidhiya ezhudhi vecha.. kashtathukku cousins ah porakka vecha… Yuvan has met his expectation once again!
Naam Vaazhndhidum – Hiphop Tamizha, Yuvan Shankar Raja
The latest sensation Hiphop Tamizha joined hands with Yuvan Shankar Raja to deliver a racy BGM material with hair rising rap verses. Aadhi has rendered the rap portions in his signature style while YSR neatly rendered his portions to cover this ‘montage’ song. A might pick from the album.
Pachchai Vanna – Yuvan Shankar Raja
A near perfect melody from the composer after a long, long time. Yuvan’s signature vocals make a comeback here to provide a serene love track. It seems that the composer is not able to come out of EDM hangover and making use of it even in the melodious tracks. This one could well do multiple rounds, provided, if the visuals supports it.
Pookamazh – Tanvi Shah
The album moves on to one more club number, but this time it fails to repeat the magic of,’Move Your Body’. Tanvi’s vocals alone saves the track to some extent and Yuvan makes an impression that he is experimenting hard to find add another weapon to his arsenal.
Vandha Kadha – Gaana Bala
The album ends with a pedestrian number. The composers are blindly roping in Gaana Bala for the Madrasi’sh tracks and they got to understand that, he cannot simply lift the song with his vocals alone and the base tune must complement his unique vocals.
Pick(s) of the album – Move Your Body, Naam Vaazhndhidum, Pachchai Vanna
