The very name Soona Paana wil bring a smile to every Tamil cinema lover bringing memories of Vadivelu's iconic character in the movie 'Kannathal' released in the year 1998. A social activist to bring awareness about the self-generated epass system in Tamil Nadu has procured a journey pass from Tiruppur to Madurai using the fictitious character name.
The person has given the name of Soona Paana and mentioned that he is the son of another famous Vadivelu character Sangi Mangi from 'Pokkiri'. The car number was filled in as TN01X0000 and only the cellphone and Aadhaar were authentic.
The government website without verifying any of these details has generated an epass from Tiruppur to Madurai in the name of Soona Paana. The activist has stated that his intention is not to degrade the system but to expose its flaws.
Already the central government has advised the state governments to stop restricting the movement of citizens within the states and between the states. Already Puducherry government has lifted the travel restrictions and TN is expected to follow suit soon and the epass system could soon become defunct.
