Actor Vadivelu has been a staunch supporter of the present officebearers of Nadigar Sangam and he also campaigned for the present team formerly called as 'Pandavar Ani' during the elections held last year. Ever since the new team took over the administration of the Sangam, the Vaigaipuyal has been gleefully taking part in the Sangam activities.
However the veteran comedian's absence in yesterday's much Star Cricket Tournament raised many eyebrows and also lead to various rumors.
Rumormongers have it that Vadivelu wanted to play in one of the teams but the organizers did not allow that. On the other hand Soori, the next generation comedian played in one of the teams. Hence Vadivelu boycotted yesterday's event that saw the participation of celebrities from other film industries as well.
The truth however seems to be way different. Sources close to Vadivelu revealed that the actor had indeed planned to participate in the tournament and he also had plans to conduct special comedy programs to entertain the audience. However he had to call off the plan due to the sudden illness of his mother and he had to leave to his hometown skipping the event. He had duly informed Nadigar Sangam President Nasser and General Secretary Vishal about his inability to participate in the event.
It is worth recalling that Vadivelu actively participated in the promotional shows for the Star cricket tournament, aired in a popular Satellite channel, last week.
