Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu is one actor who the audience loves and such is his popularity from tiny tots to senior citizens, that he commands the opening of a superstar when his films release. After the grand success of Thenali Raman` Vadivelu is working with director Yuvaraj for Eli` which is set in the 1960s and is a complete laugh riot.

A grand set was erected at the Binny Mills and a very complicated fight sequence was filmed in eight days involving Vadivelu, who has done such stunts for the first time in his career. Fight choreographer Super Subarayan was mighty impressed with the way Vadivelu did the risky scenes. The comedy king was initially apprehensive of doing as he was in doubt whether the audience would accept it, but Yuvaraj coaxed his star by quoting Jackie Chan as an example who handles comedy and stunts. Only about 20% of shoot is left for Eli` and Vadivelu will soon move to cool locales of Ooty and Kulu Manali for shooting a romantic song with Sadha.
