Legendary comedian Vadivelu has been banned from acting in Tamil cinema and the Tamil Film Producers Council has sent a circular to all its members not to book him. The decision has been taken after Vadivelu refusing to budge to an amicable solution in the controversy he has with director Shankar.
Shankar first introduced Vadivelu as a hero in his S Pictures banner produced 'Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi' directed by Simbu Devan which became a hit when released in 2006. The film catupulted the comedian to the status of a parallel leading man and his salary skyrocketed after that.
Director Shankar once again signed Vadivelu to resprise his dual roles in the sequel 'Imsai Arasan 24aam Pulikesi' once again directed by Simbu Devan and paid a huge sum as advance. Costly sets were erected and after a few days of shooting the Vaigai Puyal refused to continue citing petty issues such as the team insulting his costumer etc.
Following Shankar's complaint, the TFPC asked Vadivelu to either continue shooting and complete the film or pay rupees 9 Crores as damages for the expenses incurred so far. The actor has ignored the issue and the red card has been issued.
