Vadivelu, who was once ruling the roost in Kollywood, appeared before the Magistrate Court in Dindigul on Wednesday, in a case registered against him and DMK activists for allegedly violating the code of conduct while campaigning during the last Assembly elections.

The top comedian of Tamil cinema entered the political scene in the run up to the Assembly polls last year, by offering his support to the then ruling party DMK. He made a whirlwind tour across the State, wooing the voters in support of the party.

While addressing a campaign meeting at Dindigul, he allegedly violated the poll code. Following this, Election officials filed a case against Vadivelu and other members of the DMK. When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, Vadivelu made a personal appearance.

When journalists asked him why he was not acting in films after the Assembly elections, Vadivelu said he was planning a comeback. "I listened to a lot of stories and finalized on one. I would soon start shooting for it," he said.
