The Tamil entertainment industry has been shell shocked after the news of the passing away of popular comedy actor Vadivel Balaji came out early this afternoon. It is said that the 42 year old television star was admitted to the Billroth hospital in Chennai fifteen days back after suffering a stroke and both sides paralyzed. The family unable to bear the expenses were forced to shift him to the Vijaya Hospital in Vadapalani and then to the government hospital where he breathed last.
Aranthangi Nisha a regular costar of Balaji in 'Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru' in an exclusive telephonic interview with us has revealed that Vadivel Balaji was under severe depression for the past four months since the coronavirus lockdown. She explained that for small screen actors like her and the departed they get paid only when there are shows and otherwise it is difficult to run the family.
Similarly Balaji was under pressure to maintain his family as he was dependent on his television work. It is further revealed that Balaji participated as a contestant with his wife on the show "Mr and Mrs Chinnathirai' and hoped to be on the show for some time but unfortunately, he was eliminated and he was very disappointed.
During the show Balaji had shared with Nisha that he was totally going mad locked in his house without work and the mounting financial pressures. His wife too is not educated and cannot even read or write and Nisha has expressed much concern about the future of the family.
The most shocking observation by Nisha is that if only the Balaji family could have managed to get money for the treatment he could have been saved and it was due to the nonaffordalitly by the family was the main reason for his death. There is more from Nisha about Vadivel Balaji and the plight of the small screen actors in the video below.
