One of the biggest hits in Dhanush's career is 'Velaiyilla Pattadhari' produced by him and directed by Velraj which released in the year 2014 gaining critical acclaim as well.  The film apart from having a sold story also had a rocking music score by Anirudh which is still the fan favorite.

Marathi film producer Pranita Pawar produced a film 'Mahja Naav Shivaji' starring Chakraborthy which turned out to be a carbon copy of Dhanush's 'VIP' with even the songs "Oodhungada Sangu" and "What a Karuvad" featured in it.  After Wunderbar Films filed a case in the Madras High Court the judges found that the claims are true and have ordered Pranita Pawar to provide details of profits earned to Dhanush and also pay up the legal charges apart from handing over he entire stock of software, digitised master copies, master cassettes, master HD/DVD/CDs, sound recordings, literature, pamphlets and all other material related to its movie.

Dhanush's next release is 'Vada Chennai' directed by Vettrimaaran and costarring Ameer, Aishwarya Rajesh, Andrea and Samuthirakani.
