It's known that the first leg of the first phase of coronavirus vaccination will begin soon. Recently, some reports claimed that it will start off on January 13.
The news is that the Centre has reportedly given States Rs 480 Cr towards meeting the operational expenses of vaccine administration. As per an ET report, this amount doesn't include the cost of vaccines. Negotiations are still on with Serum Institute of India (Covishield) and Bharat Bharat (Covaxin) for the supply of vaccine units.
As announced officially by the government in December, one crore healthcare workers and two crore frontline workers will be inoculated at the earliest, followed by 27 crore priority age groups. Towards getting them enlisted, a Co-WIN app has been launched for the purpose of registration. Official data says that more than three-fourths of healthcare workers have already registered themselves on this official vaccine app.
A 24x7 helpline has been put in place for CoWIN users. A facility of digital locker for integrated data retrieval has also been created.
