As the music of classmates is reigning high for the last few months, big expectations are on Alex Paul on his every new release. And in his new 'Vaasthavam,' Alex Paul has definitely delivered to hold his heads high with classy music. The album has three songs in the meaningful lyrics of Gireesh Puthencherry.
1. "Arappavanpoonu" - This is a duet sung by Vidhu Prathaap and Rimi Tomy, the opening song of the album and the film. It is a catchy, rhythmic and beautifully composed song which is reminiscent of an older hit. It is a subtle love song rendered softly, but the vocals of Vidhu Prathaap is just a class apart .He feels refreshingly live than usual and suits well with the onscreen energy of Prithviraj. The song is the best in the album and is a potential hit.
2. "Kadom kona janmam" - It is a soft meaningful situational track written exceptionally well by Gireesh Puthencherry, who makes an impact with the track. This time the music director ropes in a male singer and composer to add the needed feel and it is none other than composer Vidyadharan who steals the show with his poignant rendering styles. The song is repeated in the young vocals of Reju Joseph who also show his maturity to sing the song with needed feel .High on melody and good arrangement of this song will also appeal the listener.
3. "Naada" - The next song from the album makes route for melody. Sung by the melody queen K.S. Chitra, she graces the song with her casual free flowing vocals. Another classy soundtrack.
Alex Paul needs a pat on the back for the good soundtrack of the film retaining the "Keralaliteness" in music as the film demands but as well bringing in variety and quality in every track. All the songs are impressive and maintain the original essence and is yet garnished with something new. (For your comments on the songs, log on to raaga.com).
