Director Sami has been known for his films on controversial themes and unexplored relationships, like the Srikanth - Sangeetha starrer Uyir, Mirugam with Aadhi and Padmapriya and the Amala Paul - Harish Kalyan starrer Sindhu Samaveli. He had last directed Kangaroo, released before 4 years.

Now, the director is all set to return to silver screens with his next directorial venture, which is going to be the remake of critically acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi's celebrated, international award winning movie Children of Heaven, which is known for its lovely portrayal of siblinghood.

The Tamil version of Children of Heaven has been titled Akka Kuruvi, and the director has shot the movie in Poomparai, which is located at 20 kms from Kodaikanal. Child artists Maheen and Daviya play the lead roles, and the movie is planned as a May release in Tamil as well as Telugu.
