UTV has signed a satellite syndication deal with COLORS (a 50/50 joint venture operation in India between Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B) and the Network18 Group), under which it has licensed rights for 27 films on a non-exclusive basis for India and overseas. The movies, which will be telecast on COLORS in the coming months include an unbeatable mix of commercial blockbusters and critically acclaimed films like Jodhaa Akbar, Race, Life in a Metro, Mumbai Meri Jaan, A Wednesday and Welcome to Sajjanpur . COLORS would be the second broadcaster for airing these films after UTV Movies.
Announcing the deal, Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures said, We are glad to announce this satellite syndication deal with COLORS for a selection of films from the UTV library. UTV has h ad a dream run in 2008 with all our releases performing exceptionally well at the box office and with this and other syndication deals we hope to increase the audience for these movies across India and around the world.
