The principal of a degree college has been booked for sending obscene and vulgar messages to his female students.
The degree college in Uttarakhand is located in the Kotabagh area of Nainital district. The girls, who had been enduring the man's harassment for over a year, registered a complaint at the Kaladhungi police station. "We have booked the principal of the degree college on the complaint of a girl. She had handed over a complaint about the principal's inappropriate behavior and our probe found the complaint to be genuine," a police officer reportedly stated. The accused man, identified as Prem Prakash Tamta, apparently not only sent them obscene messages but would talk in an inappropriate manner during their phone calls as well. The girls had remained quiet all these months out of fear, according to reports. "After receiving the complaint, we recorded the statement of the girls and then registered an FIR against the principal," the officer mentioned. Upon inquiry, the man said that he used to send the girls 'good morning' and 'good night' messages. "Some wrong messages might have gone inadvertently. He would apologize to the students concerned for the same and is ready to bear any punishment," the principal reportedly said.
The accused has been booked under section 254 (assault or use of criminal force against woman) and 504 (intentionally insult) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigation of the matter is currently underway.
