In a shocking incident reported from Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, a man slit his wife's throat following an argument over the latter serving him tea with less sugar in it.
The accused, identified as 40-year-old Bablu Kumar, and the victim, identified as 35-year-old Renu Devi, had been married for 12 years and reportedly resided in the Lakhimpur district’s Barber area under the territorial limits of Pasgawa Police Station. An argument over the amount of sugar in Bablu's tea ensued between the couple on Monday evening, leading him to slit his wife's throat with a sharp knife. The couple's children, who were asleep at that time, woke up after hearing screams coming from the living room. They found their mother lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen struggling to breathe, while the accused had fled the spot. The woman's father registered a complaint against the man while the police recorded the children's statements and have retrieved the weapon used for the crime as well.
A case has been booked against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation of the matter is currently underway.
