In a shocking and horrific incident, the naked body of a woman covered in acid burns has been found by locals near the Katarniya Ghat forest of Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the police suspect that the girl, who was in her 20s, must have been gang-raped somewhere else and the criminals might have dropped off her body near the forest and poured acid over her face in order to conceal her identity. The body of the victim has been sent in for a post-mortem and the police have reportedly informed media that the exact cause of her death can be ascertained only after they analyze the post-mortem report. The incident has been reported over a month after the brutal rape and murder of 26-year-old Disha, whose charred body was found on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway.
